Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is based on understanding the role of fascia, a web of interconnected tissue comprised of collagen and elastin, that travels the body without interruption. It surrounds individual cells, organs, systems, and then wraps it all up in one huge package, head to toe. This network also serves as the communication medium from cell to cell and organ to organ. Trauma, posture, or inflammation can change the consistency of the web, solidifying and shortening fibers and blocking the flow of messages that are necessary for homeostasis. This web, if pulled too tightly in one direction, can leave other areas restricted, creating pressure on nerves, muscles, organs, and bones.
